What’s your thinking got to do with it?
Sometimes in life it takes a major shock or change in circumstances to get us to re-evaluate what is important to us. These major life events literally force us to radically change our direction. A major sickness gets us to appreciate how important our health is, a bereavement the importance of relationships or the loss of a job how important it is for one to be able to work. But do we have to wait for something to happen before we act. Well you remember “Who moved my Cheese” by Spencer Johnson it illustrates the point I am trying to make so eloquently and effortlessly.
Why wait to remind yourself that the important things in life are free. Your health, your relationships, what legacy you will leave and I must say it where your soul ends up. What is stopping you from making the changes that you need to make right now, or taking the decisions that you know you should.
As you look out into the horizon of your life you must understand that your biggest barrier to whatever your dreams are lies in your thinking. Yes you’re thinking keeps you from your destiny because your conditioning that has brought you thus far is not good enough to take you to where you want to be. Some of us may need a complete overhaul of our thinking others may just need a spring clean. The level of your unhappiness or happiness will give you a clue to how much work you may need to do.
You need a different type of thinking to move you to a different place. It is no good making plans about where you want to be or even moving into new situations if your thinking is in the old place. That new job, new relationship, new house, new ministry will not be effective with your old head on. In fact your mind must move to the new place before all the other actions are taken.
I want you to use this month to examine your thinking. You will find clues when you take note of the way that you speak. Are you the optimist or do you defeat yourself with the words that you use. When you examine your productivity are there lots of excuses as to why you haven’t acted yet? If this sounds familiar perhaps it’s time to look at your thoughts.
By changing your thinking your actions will be different, the right actions will ultimately take us to our destiny.
